The Role

As a Technical Editor II, you will collaborate closely with representatives from member organizations across the global technology industry to edit and release the specifications, test documentation, and other content deliverables that define the next generation of Bluetooth wireless technology. With an emphasis on upstream engagement in the technology development process, you will apply technical communication best practices and the responsible use of AI to the delivery of Bluetooth specifications and test documentation.

 

Responsibilities

· Edit and release content in support of new Bluetooth wireless technology features.

· Edit and standardize content drafted by SME contributors.

· Develop expertise in Bluetooth technology applicable to editing content.

· Participate in interviewing candidates for open positions, as needed.

· Be a supporting technical editor for one or more working groups, supporting the Senior Technical Editor as required.

· Contribute to the planning and scheduling of content deliverables.

· Support the Bluetooth SIG content strategy and follow information architecture best practices.

· Contribute to the development of the Bluetooth Drafting Guidelines and standardization of specifications and other Bluetooth SIG content.

· Collaborate effectively with internal/external teams/groups to drive clarity, deliver content and projects, and provide editorial, logistical, and consensus-building support to the Senior Technical Editor.

· Contribute to improvements in Bluetooth SIG processes for specification and test documentation development.


Skills & Experience

· 4–8 years’ experience producing technical content for a technical audience.

· Excellent grammar, proofreading, and editing skills (and a capacity to write as needed) with a focus on quality and attention to detail.

· 3–5 years’ experience working in a structured and/or component content management environment.

· Proven track record of supporting critical goals for organization, initiating and completing projects correctly with high quality, and proposing new and innovative solutions to problems.

· Proven ability to lead a content development project as needed.

· Expertise in GitHub.

· Passion for technology.

· Strong oral and written communication skills.

· Strong interpersonal skills and empathy for customers.

· 2–3 years’ experience working in a globally distributed organization.

· 2–3 years’ experience collaborating with internal and external teams/groups in an Agile/Scrum environment.

· Experience in planning and scheduling, and able to work on and manage complex content projects across a specification area.

· Demonstrated ability to interview candidates for open positions.

· Accountable team player who collaborates effectively in a team environment.

Additional Skills for Consideration

· Experience with technology industry standards and standards development organizations is a plus.

· Expertise in various markup and markdown languages, particularly AsciiDoc, is a plus.

· Expertise in AI is a plus.

· Presentation skills are a plus.
